ABOUT
Lander—Se
Lander—Se is a contemporary artist-run gallery set within a vernacular barn on 2.5 acres in Red Hill on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.
Founded in 2024 by artist and curator Hannah Nowlan, the gallery presents a seasonal exhibition program exploring a spiritual portrait of Australian landscape through painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and installation. Exhibitions are conceived as immersive spatial environments, shaped through light, material and place, where the building and its surroundings are as much a part of the work as the objects inside.
Since opening, Lander—Se has presented thirteen exhibitions across solo and group formats, collaborating with more than thirty artists. The program centres emerging and mid-career women artists from regional Victoria alongside practitioners from Melbourne and interstate. Works have entered national and international private and commercial collections.
In 2026, the gallery launched the Lander—Se Artist Stable, a formal representation model supporting artists through ongoing curatorial development, collector engagement and commercial advocacy.
Positioned between Melbourne and the Peninsula, Lander—Se operates at the intersection of contemporary art, architecture and interiors, with an audience that spans collectors, designers and those drawn to slower, more considered ways of engaging with art.
Founder
Hannah Nowlan is an Australian artist, curator and the founder of Lander—Se.
Her practice works across painting, scent and installation, exploring landscape, memory, ritual and atmosphere through materially driven processes. In 2025 she expanded into scent-making through SENSE at Lander—Se, a sensory installation bringing together oil paintings and perfume oils. That same year she became the owner of Nunchi Oils, a sensory wellness brand, deepening the thread connecting her art practice to the material and atmospheric qualities of place.
Nowlan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Victorian College of the Arts and works across interior styling and creative direction for architecture and design studios, experience that continues to shape how she thinks about exhibition-making, composition and space.
Nowlan founded Lander—Se in 2024 in response to a genuine absence: rural exhibition spaces for emerging and mid-career contemporary artists working in dialogue with landscape and materiality. Through exhibitions, artist representation and immersive installations, she has built a platform that connects artists, collectors, designers and place.
