About Lander—Se

Lander—Se is a rural contemporary gallery located in Red Hill on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.

Set within a rural vernacular barn on 2.5 acres, the gallery presents exhibitions and interdisciplinary projects exploring a spiritual portrait of Australian Landscape through material, atmospheric and immersive practices.

Founded in 2024 by artist and curator Hannah Nowlan, Lander—Se emerged from a desire to create a more grounded context for experiencing contemporary art outside metropolitan centres. The program centres artists whose practices respond to landscape and environment through material, process and atmosphere.

Working across painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and installation, exhibitions at Lander—Se are conceived as immersive compositions shaped through light, material and environment.

Positioned between the cultural landscapes of Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, Lander—Se operates at the intersection of contemporary art, architecture, interiors and sensory experience, cultivating a distinct regional platform shaped by materiality, atmosphere and place.

Founder

Hannah Nowlan is an Australian artist, curator and founder of Lander—Se, a rural contemporary gallery based in Red Hill, Victoria.

Working across painting, scent and installation, Nowlan’s practice explores themes of landscape, memory, ritual and atmosphere through materially driven processes. Her broader work moves between contemporary art, interiors, architecture and visual storytelling, informing an interdisciplinary approach grounded in material, composition and environment.

Nowlan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Printmaking from the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne. Alongside her independent artistic practice, she has worked across curation, interior styling and creative direction for architecture and design studios, experiences that continue to shape the identity and exhibition language of Lander—Se.

Founded in 2024, Lander—Se was established in response to the lack of rural exhibition spaces for emerging contemporary artists working in dialogue with landscape and materiality. Through exhibitions, artist representation and immersive installations, Nowlan has developed Lander—Se into an evolving platform connecting artists, collectors, designers and place.
