ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

Lander—Se Winter Residency Program

Each winter, as the gallery slows down, Lander—Se offers a three-month residency to a local artist. The program provides space and time to deepen artistic practice, collaborate, experiment, and draw inspiration from the rich nature, culture, and layered histories of Red Hill and the Mornington Peninsula.

The residency invites a slower pace — one that honours seasonal rhythms, fosters creative exploration, and supports the development of new work. An artistic hibernation of sorts, held within a unique and grounded rural setting.

To visit the gallery during our Winter Residency join one of our immersive creative workshops or book a private viewing.

Artist in Residence 2025: Hannah Nowlan

Hannah Nowlan is a visual artist (painter), stylist, creative and founder of Lander—Se. Hannah’s landscape based practice explores mythology, memory and transience. With a deep connection to place, her work often responds to the spiritual and sensory textures of the land.

As the inaugural Artist in Residence, Hannah is spending the winter season developing a new body of work in the gallery studio. This residency marks a return to painting after shaping the physical and creative foundations of Lander—Se.

Revisiting her archives and working slowly with new concepts, embracing elemental mark-making and abstract forms shaped by weather, light, and the layered geology of the surrounding site. The work developed during this time will culminate in an exhibition at Lander—Se late 2025.
