ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
Lander—Se Winter Residency Program
Each winter, as the gallery slows down, Lander—Se offers a three-month residency to a local artist. The program provides space and time to develop work, experiment and draw from the nature, culture and layered histories of Red Hill and the Mornington Peninsula.
The residency moves at a slower pace, one that honours seasonal rhythms and supports the kind of deep, unhurried making that busier contexts rarely allow. An artistic hibernation of sorts, held within the barn and its surrounding land.
To visit during the Winter Residency, join one of our creative workshops or book a private viewing.
Artist in Residence 2025: Hannah Nowlan
Hannah Nowlan is a painter, stylist and the founder of Lander—Se. Her practice explores mythology, memory and transience through landscape, with a sensitivity to the spiritual and sensory textures of land and place.
As the inaugural resident, Nowlan spent the winter developing a new body of work in the gallery studio, returning to painting after a period focused on building the physical and creative foundations of Lander—Se. Working slowly with elemental mark-making and abstract forms shaped by weather, light and the geology of the surrounding site, the work culminated in SENSE, exhibited at Lander—Se in October 2025.
