Artist Statement
Shannon Heath is a self-taught Australian artist based on the Tweed Coast, within the Bundjalung Nation of New South Wales. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Design, Shannon embarked on a successful career in the fashion industry, working as a designer both in Australia and the United States. Over time, she felt a strong pull away from the digital realm and returned to more tactile, intuitive forms of creativity—ultimately answering the call to paint. Her art is deeply informed by her background in design. This foundation merges seamlessly with her instinctive sense for expressive, textural composition.
Shannon’s signature style is defined by ethereal, neon-pastel palettes and emotionally charged, layered tableaux. Working primarily with acrylics, oil sticks, and unconventional tools, she employs a unique process of layering and extraction to create immersive, dynamic works.
Theme: EMBER
“After the Fire, Green’ explores regeneration and renewal — the quiet, powerful moment when life begins to return after destruction. For me, EMBER represents resilience; the lingering warmth that holds the potential for growth. My work connects to this idea by capturing the beauty that emerges in the aftermath — the green that rises from the ashes.
