Artist Statement

I’m an abstract artist who loves exploring multiple art forms. My work often brings together acrylic paint and oil sticks, a pairing I’m drawn to for the way they blend — fluid washes of paint meeting the bold pigment and texture of oil. The result is always surprising, alive, and layered. As a mother of three, painting has become my creative outlet for the emotions and complexities of motherhood. Watching my children create without boundaries continually inspires me to do the same — to embrace curiosity, let go of limits, and allow each piece to unfold intuitively.

Theme: CURRENT

Growing up and living on the Mornington Peninsula I’m constantly inspired by the mix of calm bays, wild waves and rugged cliffs. The changing skies and shifting light are a reminder to pause and notice — if not my me, by my kids who instictively know the small things are the big things, like taking time to notice the bluey pink sky, the sound of the ocean and the feel of the wind.  My work reflects these moments and textures of the land.

I mix sand into paint for that rough, earthy feel, layering acrylics with oil sticks so colour and texture meet in surprising ways. It’s my way of grounding myself, connecting to place, and letting my inner child guide the work, just as nature intended.
