Artist Statement
Bronwyn Kidd presents a vivid cloth woven of collaboration, celebrating womanhood, memory, and community. Layering digital and analogue photography, informed by a career in promoting high fashion through performance, she represents her subjects’, and her own, journey toward new identity.
Deftly she conveys inner emotion, radiating optimism for a mature resolution, calm and unity. In her collaborative process, unity and individuality intertwine, honouring truth in each contributor's voice. Fluidity and form colour an interplay of strength and fragility. In love with classicism, Kidd's observational lens projects a cinema of past, present, and future, morphing remembrance with discovery.
Theme: CURRENT
Through Her Breath considers breath as a living current that flows between women, memory and place. Created in a time of personal loss, the work honours my late mother while reflecting on the ways breath sustains connection and renewal. Just as the Peninsula shifts with the season, breath carries traces of the past into the present, linking body, land and community. In this way, the work becomes a quiet meditation on belonging — a reminder of the invisible threads that bind us to each other and to the natural world.
