Join Irish-Australian, Mornington Peninsula based artist, Leyla Bulmer for a relaxed and playful jewellery-making workshop.
Leyla first learned beading from her step-mum, discovering it as a way of connection and conversation. Ever since, she has carried the joy of this practice — sometimes turning to it as a soothing outlet when painting feels stuck, or simply when she wants to create something new to wear. For Leyla, jewellery-making is a “less heady,” more process-driven way of making — a gentle reminder that beauty doesn’t always need to be overthought. In this workshop, you’ll be guided through the process of transforming simple materials into jewellery with meaning. You’ll create a wearable piece of art that can serve as a touchstone — to memory, intention, or simply self-expression. A reminder that creativity is not only about making, but also about being.
All materials provided, light refreshments and a grazing platter to enjoy during the session. Guidance and inspiration from Leyla’s own creative process while her artworks are on display in the gallery.
What you’ll make:
Each participant will create one beaded necklace during the workshop.
If time allows, you’ll also have the option to make an additional piece: a bracelet ($80) or another necklace ($120)
Leyla believes creativity is our most innate way of being — so come lean into your truest creative self, and walk out wearing it.
